Besides being known for the 34th president of the United States, Eisenhower was also known for his famous D-Day invasion of France in 1944. He was known as the commander of the Allied Forces in North Africa during WWI. During his presidency, he created the armistice in Korea.He helped to negotiate an end to the Korean War in 1953 by placing American troops at the border between South Korea and North Korea to keep peace. There are still American troops there today. Lastly, he is best remembered for his farewell address urging the US to avoid the military.
